There’s no fixed replacement schedule — lifespan depends on usage, typically lasting 6 months to 5 years.
When to Replace Carbon Brushes
Physical Wear: Replace brushes when they are worn to about ¼ inch (6 mm) or less.
Physical Damage: Check for cracks, chips, crumbling, or breakage. If damaged, replace immediately.
Spring Issues: collapsed or discoloured spring, may indicate internal wire failure – the brush should be replaced.
